This event will be a benefit to raise money for Annie Jardin and her quest for gold at the 2016 Olympics in trap! Annie is a long time member of the Syracuse Biathlon club and we want to show our support!

This event will be a little different with 3 races: 3km sprint, accuracy competition and a 2 man relay race (2x2km).

1. 3km Sprint
This will be a 1min interval start, three loops (1km each), and two shooting stops. Open class will shoot prone standing and novices will shoot prone-prone on standing targets.

2. Accuracy competition
This is a fun event! Groups of people will start at the rifle racks, then run to a mat where a rifle will be waiting. They will shoot at five targets, set the rifle down and run back to the racks. We will be shooting on the regular race targets. Person hits the most targets in the shortest time wins!

3. 2x2km relay
This will be a 2 person relay team. The first person will run a 1km loop, shoot and run penalty loops, then hand off to the next person. The next person will run the same 1km loop, shoot and run penalty loops. They will hand back off to the first person and repeat for a total of 4km. This will be a mass start. First person across the line and their team wins.

Registration will open on line on Monday and close Thursday evening at 10:00pm. See http://www.skireg.com/. Please register online! You can play on line (which makes things go much easier!) or you can pay at the race. Either way, that makes it easier for both you and us!

Entry fee will be $20 for novice or 18 years old and under, $25 for open class. Max price for a family is $50. This is for those who register on line before 10:00pm on Thursday. After that, the price will be $30. If you’re not a member of US Biathlon Association, we have to charge and additional $10 to cover insurance costs.

This event will be held at Pratt’s Falls. Enter the park at the main entrance and take your first left into the service area. Bare right to park. You’ll walk back to the range area.

We strive to make our events as beginner friendly as possible! You can be a hard core racer, or just come to learn something about biathlon – make it what works for you. You must be 13 years or older to handle a rifle. Club will provide rifles to those who need one. If this is your first race you’ll need to attend the safety clinic. Things to bring: water, running shoes, sun protection, snack, etc.

As with any competitive running event, be sure you’re in good shape and have checked with your doctor.
