{"id":1050,"date":"2010-01-26T19:11:52","date_gmt":"2010-01-27T00:11:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nyssranordic.com\/word_press\/?p=1050"},"modified":"2010-01-26T19:11:52","modified_gmt":"2010-01-27T00:11:52","slug":"points-lists-updated-through-harry-eldridge-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/biathlon.nyssranordic.org\/?p=1050","title":{"rendered":"Points Lists Updated through Harry Eldridge Weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The NYSSRA points series managed to get in a spectacular weekend of racing before Mother Nature drenched the state with a January deluge. \u00a0<em>NYSEF&#8217;s Harry Eldridge<\/em> weekend featured well over 200 racers battling it out over two days. <strong> Team HURT <\/strong>remains the top NYSSRA Club, in command of the Points Series. \u00a0A real battle is brewing between <strong>NYSEF<\/strong> and <strong>Peru Nordic Masters<\/strong> for the second spot. \u00a0In the NYSSRA Series,<strong> Tim Hunek <\/strong>sits atop the Red Group, with <strong>Ann Jardin <\/strong>and <strong>Eric Seyse<\/strong> tied for second. \u00a0Many of NYSSRA&#8217;s master skiers will be heading to Craftsbury, VT this week for the AXCS Masters National Championships\/Craftsbury Marathon. \u00a0However there are two races on the schedule this weekend, The <em>Wolverine Classic<\/em> and the<em> Higley Hustle<\/em>, \u00a0that will hopefully be on, even with the recent warm and wet weather. \u00a0Updates for these events will be found here on the NYSSRA Cross Country website.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nyssranordic.com\/points_series_0910.html\">POINTS SERIES<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nyssranordic.com\/club_series_2009_10.html\">CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES<\/a><\/p>\n<p>EMPIRE STATE GAMES&#8230; NYSSRA Nordic, Inc. assists the Empire State Games by qualifying cross country ski racers. \u00a0A separate ESG points list is found on the Points Series Page. \u00a0Skiers interested in the ESGs should read the following:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nyssranordic.com\/points_series_0910.html\">ESG Qualifying Points List<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In order to compete in the Empire State Games Cross Country skiing events a competitor must follow what is outlined below:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Be a current member of NYSSRA Nordic- February 1st is the deadline to be eligible for ESGs &#8211;\u00a0<a title=\"join nyssra nordic\" href=\"http:\/\/www.skireg.com\/events\/register.asp?EventID=3018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">join now<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Minimuim age 12<\/li>\n<li>New York State Resident or a full time student in a New York State School<\/li>\n<li>Compete in\u00a0a minimum of two ESG Qualifiers of which one must be Classical and one must be Freestyle &#8211; see\u00a0<a title=\"NYSSRA Events Schedule\" href=\"http:\/\/nyssranordic.org\/?page_id=82\">schedule<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Qualify in the top of your respective competition class as stated below<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Competition Classes (Age as of Dec 31<sup>st<\/sup> 2009)<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Scholastic (Ages 12 &#8211; 17)<\/strong>&#8211; Top 60 male and top 60 female on the point\u2019s list will qualify to compete in the Empire State Winter Games xc races. Scholastic competitors will receive an ESG uniform.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Open (Age 18 and older)<\/strong>&#8211; Top 40 male and top 40 female Open skiers on the point\u2019s list with the exception of Masters age skiers (30+) unless said Masters have declared their eligibility in the Open class to the cross country chairman (Larry Wilkinson 315-797-9341 \/ nordic@roadrunner.com) by February 1<sup>st<\/sup>. Open class competitors will receive an ESG uniform<\/li>\n<li><strong>Master (age 30+)<\/strong> &#8211; All masters who meet the minimum requirements will automatically qualify to compete in their respective age class.\u00a0 Masters wishing to compete in the Open Class must declare their intention to the cross country chairman no later than February 1st.\u00a0 Masters who chose to compete in the Open Class will not be eligible for Masters age Class medals.\u00a0 Masters do not receive ESG uniforms but these may be purchased at times designated by the ESG organizers in the letter to competitors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> Masters who declare their eligibility in the open class must also compete in the open class in all Nordic sports for which they qualify.<\/p>\n<p>official web site of the\u00a0<a title=\"Empire State Winter Games\" href=\"http:\/\/www.empirestategames.org\/winter\/index.htm\">Empire State Winter Games<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<span>Empire State Games<\/span> and\u00a0<span>NYSSRA Nordic <\/span>are two separate organizations.\u00a0 ESG is a year round organization that organizes and runs amateur\u00a0sporting competitions.\u00a0 These are open to NY residents only, with some exceptions for some sports.\u00a0 NYSSRA Nordic is a nordic sports organization that promotes the nordicsports of cross country skiing, biathlon, and Ski-orienteering.\u00a0 NYSSRA Nordic designs qualifying rules and runs qualifing events for athletes to qualify and compete in the ESWG.\u00a0 ESG gives NYSSRA Nordic specific guidelines to fiollow in designing these qualifying rules.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The NYSSRA points series managed to get in a spectacular weekend of racing before Mother Nature drenched the state with a January deluge. \u00a0NYSEF&#8217;s Harry Eldridge weekend featured well over 200 racers battling it out over two days.
