Nordic events will make up a large portion of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.empirestatewintergames.com\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">19 winter sports<\/span><\/a>\u00a0scheduled this year. Activities get underway with the evening Opening Ceremonies on\u00a0Thursday, February 6. Be sure to check the Games website for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.empirestatewintergames.com\/schedule\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">complete schedule<\/span><\/a>\u00a0of events including the location and times for athlete check-in.<\/p>\n<p>See the event and schedule tabs of this website for information specific to the NYSSRA Nordic organized sports for the Games &#8212; cross country skiing (ESWG Tour-Nado), biathlon and ski-orienteering. \u00a0The Empire State Weekend also serves as the fourth <a href=\"http:\/\/nyssranordic.org\/schedule\/xc-schedule\/wilkinson-cup\/\">Wilkinson Cup <\/a>series weekend of the 2014 winter season.<\/p>\n<p>Athletes must pre-register for events by going to the Games online\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.empirestatewintergames.com\/athlete-registration\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Athlete Registration<\/span>\u00a0<\/a>system.<\/p>\n<p>Reminder: Overnight accommodations in the Lake Placid Region fill quickly during the Games weekend.
