The NYSSRA Nordic Junior Development Committee is pleased to announce that we will continue to provide clinic, training, and racing opportunities throughout the year to experienced Nordic skiers who are interested in getting involved with biathlon as their schedules permit.\u00a0 The goal is to get them involved early and give them opportunities to learn the sport now since the learning curve is a fairly long one.\u00a0 We hope to do this while keeping costs to parents as low as possible.\u00a0 The target audience is strong skiers between the ages 14-20, but exceptions will be considered on case by case basis.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

We again plan on holding two shooting clinics this spring.\u00a0 We also hope to do a fall clinic and an early winter on-snow clinic if the weather cooperates.\u00a0 We will continue to support skiers at local races over the winter and encourage them to participate at the World Junior Team trials over the holiday break.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The first clinic this year will be a FREE one day program dedicated to biathlon shooting at the Saratoga Biathlon Club on Sunday May 27th<\/sup><\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0 We will go over proper rifle fit, position, technique & skills training with some light combination training & fun competitions.\u00a0 At this clinic we are pleased to announce that we will have Algis Shalna as a special guest instructor!\u00a0 Algis is a USBA developmental coach and an Olympic Biathlon gold medal winner!\u00a0 Camping opportunities are available if people are traveling and want to make it a long weekend in Saratoga.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The second clinic will be held in Old Forge NY <\/span><\/strong>on Saturday June 9<\/strong><\/span> and it too will be free!\u00a0 An added bonus for this clinic is that the Polar Bear Biathlon Club will be hosting a summer biathlon (running & shooting) race the following day on 6\/10 so the kids can put what they learned to the test right away!\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

  2. Past experience level with Nordic skiing and biathlon.<\/li>\n
  3. If you have a biathlon rifle &\/or have access to one you can borrow.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    **Biathlon newcomers should reply ASAP as loner rifles will be limited!\u00a0 If you need a rifle, make sure you tell us if you are left or right handed!\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n
