{"id":1920,"date":"2014-01-29T14:02:03","date_gmt":"2014-01-29T19:02:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/biathlon.nyssranordic.org\/?p=1920"},"modified":"2014-01-29T14:02:03","modified_gmt":"2014-01-29T19:02:03","slug":"usba-camp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/biathlon.nyssranordic.org\/?p=1920","title":{"rendered":"USBA Biathlon Junior Development Training Camp"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 align=\"center\">Biathlon Junior Development Training Camp<br \/>\nJericho, Vermont- March 9-12, 2014<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Who<\/strong>:\u00a0 This training camp is for xc skiers age 13-19 who are competing at a high level in cross country skiing and want to see what biathlon training is like.\u00a0 This camp is also for those who have some biathlon experience and are looking to get some additional coaching.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What<\/strong>:\u00a0 This camp will focus on intensive biathlon marksmanship training, though we will make time to ski train, during the 4 day camp. Each athlete will have a rifle set up for them individually, and will learn range procedure and shooting techniques.\u00a0 We will run a biathlon race on the morning of March 12<sup>th<\/sup> so you can put your new skills to the test.\u00a0 We will have an option for athletes to stay and compete at the US Biathlon National Championships, March 13-16, though this option would primarily be for those with previous biathlon experience.\u00a0 Athletes interested in staying through March 16 should inquire with Piotr Bednarski, <a href=\"mailto:mnbiathlon@aol.com\">mnbiathlon@aol.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When &amp; Where:<\/strong> Camp Ethan Allen, Jericho, Vermont, March 9-12, 2014, with possible extension to March 16<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We will begin training on March 9<sup>th<\/sup> at Camp Ethan Allen, Walker building, beginning at 12noon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong>: Please email or call Piotr Bednarski, Director of Athlete Development- 952\/237-0765 cell, <a href=\"mailto:mnbiathlon@aol.com\">mnbiathlon@aol.com<\/a> to discuss your skiing results and see if you are qualified.\u00a0 Please include a summary of your best xc skiing performances.\u00a0 Please list other outstanding athletic performances, as well as any previous biathlon experience.\u00a0 The camp is limited to 16 athletes.\u00a0 Note that athletes applying to this camp are expected to already be skiing at a high level. Qualification to one of the XC Junior National regional teams is considered the standard at which athletes need to be performing in order to qualify for this camp.\u00a0 Those that did not qualify for XC JN\u2019s can still apply, and performance in regional xc skiing and in other endurance sports will be considered.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Coaching<\/strong><b>: <\/b>Algis Shalna (Olympic Gold Medalist and former Head National Team Coach), Eric Tremble (former Jr World Championship Team athlete), Vladimir Cervenka (Jr National Team Coach), Seth Huybbard (Maine Winter Sports Center) and Piotr Bednarski (Director of Athletes Development) will be conducting daily training with help from additional regional biathlon coaches and experienced athletes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Transportation<\/strong><b>: <\/b>\u00a0US Biathlon will pick up athletes by van in Stowe, Vermont at the conclusion of Junior Olympics on Sunday, March 9 by 9:30 am, arriving in Jericho around 11:00am.\u00a0 Athletes will be transported to departing flights on the afternoon of March 12 (best for flights departing after 12noon), or on March 16<sup>th<\/sup> (flights after 1pm).\u00a0 Please email Piotr at <a href=\"mailto:mnbiathlon@aol.com\">mnbiathlon@aol.com<\/a> with your flight info and cell number.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Equipment<\/strong><b>:\u00a0 <\/b>US Biathlon Will provide rifles and ammunition for all novices at the training camp.\u00a0 All you need to bring is your skis and be ready to train and learn.\u00a0 If you have your own biathlon rifle, we encourage you to bring it.\u00a0 We can arrange a place for you to ship it to if necessary.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Housing:<\/strong>\u00a0 We will be staying on the National Guard Army base, Camp Ethan Allen, Jericho, VT.\u00a0 We will stay in barracks (Army style!) that are set up in a dorm style- 6 to a room.\u00a0 Athletes will need a sleeping bag.\u00a0 We\u2019ll have meals there, and this:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>7am breakfast, 8:00am rifle fitting\/drills, 8:30 depart for skiing\/shooting 12pm lunch, 1:00-2:30pm rest, nap, clean rifles, 3:00pm\u00a0 afternoon training\/shooting, 5:30pm dinner preparation, eating, clean up, 7:30pm group dryfire and training discussion, 10pm get to sleep<\/p>\n<p><strong>Costs, Room and Board:<\/strong>\u00a0 US Biathlon will take care of all housing, food, and ground transport arrangements (from Stowe, and to Burlington Airport).<\/p>\n<p>1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cost for athletes arriving by van from Stowe on March 9th and staying through March 12 is <b>$ 300.<\/b>\u00a0 This includes ground transport from Stowe, room\/board, coaching and rifle use\/ammunition.<br \/>\n2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cost for athletes arriving on March 9th and staying through March 16, <b>$500.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Note:<\/b> this does not include entry fees to National Championship races, or ammunition for race
