Climbing Trail “B” wasn\u2019t exactly an attack on the 3,600 foot summit of Gore Mountain but some Nordic racers thought so during both weekend races. Saturday\u2019s classic and Sunday\u2019s skate races at Gore Mountain Ski Bowl organized by HURT Nordic used a combination of steep hills and sharp downhill turns. There was excellent attendance by school\/club teams and the crowds to watch them.<\/p>\n

By the numbers, 111 racers turned out Saturday, Jan. 7 for the Gore Mountain JNQ\/Varsity and JV 5K Classic Queensbury Invitational<\/strong> (results<\/a>) that included an Open\/Masters 5K Classic<\/strong> race (results<\/a>). The Bowl\u2019s superb snow grooming and classic tracks allowed racers to show some fantastic skiing in front of crowds of parents and family members at this spectator-friendly race venue. TV sports news should have been here.<\/p>\n

Similarly, 119 racers braved 10-degree temperatures for Sunday\u2019s JNQ 5K \/Masters 10K Skate<\/strong> race (results<\/a>). Thirteen racers did the BKSL 2.5K Skate<\/strong> course (results<\/a>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
