Masters-pursuit with Classical Times
In the Masters Division
Jim Kobak took a sizable lead in Saturdays Freestyle leading over Martin Donnely-Heg by 25 sec and Matthew Torniainen 27 sec . Kobak looked Pretty comfortable as he approached the start line Sunday Morning donning the number one bib. However, those behind him had other plans. Doug Diehl sitting in 4th place 54 sec down stole the day passing everyone in front of him continuing on to win by 1:21 over Chris Yarsevich 1:28 over Kobak. Diehl ended up with the fastest classical split 37:03 with Yarsevich just 3 sec back.
Janet Findlay lead by close to 2:30 over Jill Koziol after Saturdays freestyle then put the hammer down Sunday widening her margin to over 8 min.
In the Open Class
Robert Douglas Took the lead Saturday over Jon Santor by 3:29 and Eric Seyse 3:50. Douglas easily won the pursuit sunday by nearly 5min with Seyse edging out Santor at the line for second.
In The Scholastic class
Andrew Klug of Schenectady held a 2 sec lead over Avery Francois of Scotia after Saturdays Freestyle with Langton Douglas of Honeoye Falls just 30 sec back. Sundays pursuit would be a battle from start to finish as Avery overtakes Andrew to win by just 4 sec. Austin Huenek of Rexford moved into 3rd to make it a 1,2,3 sweep for the Section II skiers.
Anna Izzo of Lake Placid Lead the Girls Saturday by 11 sec over team mate Nina Armstrong with Rebecca Straw of fairport sitting in 3rd 21 sec back. On Sunday Anna would hang on to win the pursuit while Rebecca moved into second, Nina dropping to third. Rebbeca straw posted the fastest classical split edging out Anna by 3 sec.
The weekend ended with the Bill Koch race presented by NYSEF
