Sorry for the tardiness about reporting on Tri States…as we are all getting ready for the winter season, especially with no traditional ESGs in February.
The crowd was small (still scratching our heads????) but the competition was great. No one attended from NJ so NY and PA battled it out at Osceola, October 9-10/2010.
Saturday’s events included a sprint and our signature rock-rabbit event won by Pa duo…the Saucys. Lunch was held at the Osceola Congregational Church. Sunday had a mass start and the Saratoga Biathlon version accuracy match won by Doug Hoover…a post event meal was held at the Outpost in the village.
The event, though small in #s was competitive with great friendships continuing….
Thanks goes to Hugh Quinn for hosting the event, Helen Hall and the church,Theresa Sullivan and her crew for a wonderful chicken BBQ on Sunday….and of course ALL THE VOLUNTEERS…Ken Long from CT, the Snow/Hamel contingent, Bob Ames from Rochester, Dan Saucy, Carl Klossner, Lori Vazendy, Darwin Roosa, Nick Gretzinger, Kurt Donath, and Stephen Wilson our TD…
If the three states want Tri States to continue we will have to work together much sooner in the season to have it mean something to those competitors that haven’t enjoyed the competition and community the event has created
Osceola in Oct was beautiful….wind was not too bad and we really had a wonderful time during the whole wk end
