Pat DeTraglia - Western NY Biathlon Club

Pat Detraglia, who shot clean at the Syracuse Biathlon Sprint event at Osceola this past weekend has been named the first Biathlete of the Week of the 2010-’11 season.  Pat credits his shooting success to dry firing practice as well as a recent biathlon clinic he attended in Lake Placid.  This is Pat’s first clean shooting race in almost 5 years of biathlon competition.  Congratulations Pat!

Despite good shooting conditions at the race, Pat had some trouble getting a perfect zero, but he had he had the necessary confidence and shot a perfect 10 hits with 10 rounds fired when it counted during the race.

Pat is just as good on the skis as he is with the rifle, skiing the second best time of the day on the 7.5km course.  Of course it helps when you don’t have to ski any penalty loops.

He is looking forward to competing at the Junior World Trials in Vermont later this month.  The field of young talented biathletes will be pretty deep there, but I am sure Pat will do great there.
