As of Thursday at 1PM, the Cayuga Nordic Ski Club 10k classic race is still on for Hammond Hill on Saturday January 12. We expect to be able to provide a safe course but, as you might expect, conditions will be less than stellar. Our crew is working today and tomorrow to address potentially wet areas and to mark out the course. We will attempt to groom beginning this afternoon and into early Saturday. Do not expect bomb-proof tracks because of the forecasted warm temperatures. Please note that these trails are not groomed throughout the season, only right before the race, since they are on State land and use of grooming equipment on the trails is prohibited except for this race. With continued warm temperatures forecast and the possibility of rain, we still might need to pull the plug on Saturday’s race.
