The biathlon events for the empire state games are cancelled due to poor conditions. There is currently 2″ of light powder at the range and penalty loop and according to the officials at ORDA and Van Hovenburg, the course is unsuable. Although a storm is forecast for Friday, it is unknown when and how much snow we will get. The trail crew also said that they might not be able to groom everything in time, depending on the timing of the storm.
The XC races are still on, and people who have registered for biathlon can compete in the XC races. Larry Wilkinson, the XC race director, has the biathlon roster and will add in anyone who shows up to the XC race.
