The annual NYSSRA Championship Weekend will be held at Mount Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid this Saturday and Sunday. This year’s championship weekend is presented by HURT Nordic, and registration is currently available at www.skireg.com.

The NYSSRA Championships are open to all skiers, and are used to determine State Champions in Cross Country, Biathlon and Ski-Orienteering.  During this two-day festival of Nordic Skiing.  NYSSRA Skiers are encouraged to compete in at least Sunday’s 20 km classic championship race, and are also encouraged to bring their non-NYSSRA skiing friends to race as well.  Even if your friends are brand new to the sport, they can still participate in the 4 ish Km classic “Try-it” for charity ski on Sunday. We have partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association this year and are encouraging touring skiers, families and skiers of all ages to join us for a fun, healthy Nordic ski event.  Registration is available at skireg .com.  There is no excuse not to introduce someone you know to the challenge, fun and excitement of NYSSRA Nordic ski racing!!!

On Sunday, after the NYSSRA Championship races, skiers will gather together in the XC stadium for all-season awards, Wilkinson Cup awards, race awards and a festive get-together. This will include food and drink and go from 1:00-1:30 to 3:00. The awards will include Point-series and red group awards (this year featuring racing hats from Podiumwear).  Remember, to be eligible to win a points series award, skiers must compete and complete the 20 km NYSSRA Champions Cup Race.  Current Points Standings are found here.

There is plenty of snow.  The weather promises to be wintry.  Conditions should be great… Hope to see you at the NYSSRA Championship Weekend!
