A warming trend made the firm track glaze, but the ORDA grooming staff kept the trail in excellent shape. The trails were blazing fast and so were the race times.

Saturday’s 7.5KM Classic was a change of pace from the flatter glens falls races with a modified loop that made the Ladies 5KM seem steeper.

(Below: Hurt’s Chris Yarsevich kept up the pace on a gradual slope into the stadium:)

David Sinclair of GMVS won a decisive victory with 22:46. He led the field by just over 30 seconds. Places 2-10 were separated by a minute.

In the Women’s Race Tegan Thorley of SMS came out on top.

Double pole power was a must on Saturday.

On Sunday most racers returned for a 10 KM freestyle. Karl Schultz won by over a Minute for NYSEF, and Home town star Elizabeth Izzo won for Open Women. In the Under 16 Category: Scott Schultz got his toe across the line first. While NYSEF’s Jackie Garso put a minute between her and 2nd place.

Enjoy this incoming fresh snow and get ready for some fast racing in Holland Patent and Old Forge (third Wilkinson Cup race) in this last weekend before the Empire state Games Tournado.

Both races are JN Qualifiers and if you arrive a little early on Sunday you can watch the polar bear Biathletes race.
