This weekend marks a new chapter in the 2016 season: The first races on natural snow!
A huge thank you to Saratoga biathlon and their squad of volunteers led by Curt and Jim for turning a few inches of snow into a well groomed rock free trail.
(Racers were greeted by a warm fire in the new range building)
What was to be a duathlon followed by a classical race turned into 2 nearly identical sakte races. So in addition to counting their laps, racers needed to surpress their strong feeling of deja vu
Paul Alison and Alyssa Daussman took the top of the podium Saturday. Sunday there was a change in the men’s field with Paul taking a day off, and Alex Benway moving up a spot.
Next weekend Saratoga will be hosting biathlon races while XC skiers travel north to Lake Placid for the Harry Eldridge/JNQ/EHSC/U16 qualifiers. Saturday features 1k skate sprints, and Sunday has a 10k classic.
Current weather forecasts suggest we might be back on man made snow.
