Sunday’s Hurtathon capped off a great weekend of racing with the first annual Nino Manzella Memorial Race. World Master Champion Paul Allison took the top spot in the mens 15Km race.
Brian Bayerbach and Emily Atamanchuck had the fastest 5K times as they previewed the Section 2 championship course.
Far far a way over a hundred skiers skied in the annual Winona Forest Tourathon (12.5, 25, and 50K) The snow was deep the the tracks were firm and fresh snow was falling. Alex Williams and Haley Hinds won the 12.5K, Jim Allot and Joan Newell won the 25K. GHN-ADK Vauhti founder and president Matt Torniainen won the 50 K Mens race, while Yvette DeBoer took home the women’s title. It was a great event. not surprisingly Camden took home top points for their club.
Back in the Capital region GHN_ADK Vauhti was able to host their annual Glenville Hills Classic event. The snow warmed quickly and while blue kick worked fine at 8AM, at 10 racers toyed with klister (too sticky), red hard wax (clumping) Purple (Just a bit of kick and lots of slip) and skin skis (no complaints and a second place overall). It was a beautiful day. A big thanks goes out to Don Rodbell for sharing his trails.
