There were 2 very nice races held this weekend (in spite of more than a little bit of rain on the trails last week). Thanks to the Hard work of Curt Schreiner, Dirk Francois, and Pat Jansen, the trails were nicely prepared for the races at the Schen Classic and the Glenville Hills 8K skate).

A few dozen NYSSRA racers pulled themselves away from the Olympic coverage where I can say without spoiling anything that: Jesse Diggins was just as impressive as she was in the Tour de ski.

Glenville Hills has become famous for it’s Front yard hill. For this weekend due to crusty conditions  the race was held on some creative woods loops on perfect smooth sugar snow conditions. Some racers liked it so much they wanted to ski extra loops. It was excellent speed work in preparation for next weekend’s championship races.

Chris Yarsevich broke Erik Schreiner’s strangle hold on victory’s at Saratoga Biathlon this year (although Chris is not racing at the state Championships this week). Well Done to Chris and Team HURT.

Championships will be held this weekend in Day NY, register here

This years Mini Marathon will serve as the NYSSRA Championship distance race. Obviously we will be keeping an eye on the weather and making necessary adjustments. Trails are good today, temps are going below 32 at night, and some flurries are forecast. Expect warm fast snow, deep structure on your warm skis, and a fun day of competition in the sun. Come early and watch the NY Biathlon Championships both days. Some Biathletes will compete in XC and do 4 events. Many Biathletes will enjoy watching the ex events as they cool down and dine at the Chuck Wagon.

Clubs will score their final points Sunday to claim this years Club Championship Flag. Individual points leaders will score final points Saturday for the Wilkinson cup, 2018 age group champions and for our top 30 overalll “2018 Red Group”- and earn their respective embroidered prizes.

There will also be a prize raffle during our event featuring hundreds of dollars in ski prizes. Prizes include Top of the line US Ski Poles Freedom Gold poles, Toko Helix (pure flouro topcoat spray), and Toko HF 134A (worldcup special yellow) smaller items like wax and scrapers too.

See you there!
