Preregistration is now open for the January 1st biathlon at McCauley Mountain in Old Forge, New York. The Polar Bear Biathlon Club is hosting their annual New Year’s Day race to bring in the new year with a “bang”. The race will be a 7.5 km sprint format race. All classes will race the same distance. The registration fee is $15 for all those preregistered through skireg.com and $25 for those that register on January 1st. Registration on the day of race will begin at 8:00 a.m. with zero beginning at 9:00 a.m. Race start will be at 10:00 a.m. There will be a novice class for men and women for those that want to give this sport a try. For those that plan on attending this year’s biathlon please check either the Polar Bear website or this website to confirm that the race will go off as scheduled. Currently we have minimal snow and do not have skiing on our trail system.
For those that are interested in doing a cross country race, there will be a 5 km. skate race beginning at noon for anyone interested. We hope that you will come and make a day of it. Kick off your New Year with a biathlon and cross country race. Awards will be given in all classes!
